Resetting Goals and Rewards

I have been struggling the last couple of weeks with my weight loss journey. I guess you get that when you loose focus and let life get in the way too much!
I realised that my initial goal was to loose for the trip to Wellington, of which I did. I lost 9kg, and for that I am proud.

What I am not proud about is how I then let myself go so to speak! I lost my focus, allowed bad habits to creap in! Ate easter eggs (big down fall!), stopped walking to work and stopped achieving things at home which lead me to being bored which leads to eating!!!

So I sat myself down and had a chat! And guess what - we both don't want to put the weight back on - we both want to continue loosing weight and along with another wake up call from my recent blood test that showed my blood sugar was a bit high (sitting on 5 I think) and then being handed the diabetic literature!

I guess it freaked me out a bit - and not in a good way (binged!) BUT that is going to change.

I have to redo my bloods in three months which is in June - lets make it the end!

So my goal for that blood test is to be weighing under 100kg!

Which makes 12 Saturday weigh ins (from when I sat and worked out my plan!)

My weight on that day was 111.7kg!

Today is the first weigh in with a weight of 110.5kg which gives me a 1.2kg loss  - yah! So that leaves me 10.6 to loose in 11 more weigh in  days!

How will I achieve this:

 - Begin walking to work again 4 days a week
 - Playing squash at least twice a week
 - Incorporate some other form of excercise into the weekend
 - Control my food choices.
 - Remind myself why I want this!

My rewards will be:
A Facial!

A day off from work to go to the movies
With a small icecream and popcorn!

There will also be some mini rewards along the way to keep me motivated but I haven't finalised them yet - finances dependent!

But watch this space for updates!

My Special K Personal Plans

I thought I would look into the Special K plans that they are advertising and I had seen on a few blogs  I read, so I headed over to their site at http://www.myspecialk.com.au/ to check it out.

I set up my account as was required before I could go any further in the site.

You are then asked to enter in your current weight and your height.

Done..................

Then the screen goes "cloudy"  and the following popped up:

We calculated your BMI to be either below 18.5 or 40 and over. Unfortunately we don’t have a plan that meets your needs. Why not speak to your Doctor or an Accredited Practicing Dietitian (APD) for an eating and exercise plan that is specific for you.

ARGH!!! - I am either Too Skinny or Too FAT! for this site!

I am guessing its not the first part!

OMG my BMI is in the morbidly obese section!

Now don't get me wrong I know I am overweight but I guess the reality of seeing the Morbidly Obese next to my BMI was like a kick in the big fat guts!

I checked what I need to get down to in the Healthy Weight Range and I need to lose just over 50kgs more from what I weighed at my last weigh in! - Eek that is tiny!

It surely has reinforced my desire to lose this weight once and for all! Cause I want it bad enough!

Weigh In and Weekend Away Update

Well first the good news!

Weigh in on Saturday morning saw:

A Loss of 3.2 kilos!!! - Whoop Whoop

To say I am happy is an understatement

This has been a great start to my new lifestyle journey!

Now to the weekend away at my BFF's - it was great.
I got lots of organising done for my heritage album and I also completed 11 pages in the album as well.
I ate well and stayed on track even when they were all "Oh just have a little piece, it won't hurt, blah blah blah!

I am proud of how I handled myself over the weekend - only thing I would do different - probably incorporate  some excercise - like a small walk!

But overall best weekend so far for 2012!

Biking.................

We managed to get in our bike ride yesterday at the Botanical Gardens:
It was fun , altho I am unfit (as I knew) and we only lasted 50 minutes.

But it was fun and I got to spend some special one on one with my little man!
Oh and we learnt on the way out that we weren't meant to be riding our bikes there - opps!

Catch Up

Just a quick catch up to report the last two days have been good - food wise - I walked to work yesteday and found it a bit hard for some reason, may be just tired or weary -who knows!

Also the underwire in my bra went -both of them! -Argh so the girls were pushed together hanging low all day and double boobing a couple of times - YUCK!

So glad I was wearing a loose top - but by the time I got home I had some rubbing under the breasts that was hurting!

Then this morning I noticed that on another bra one of the underwires has gone as well - so I guess I better get off to the Bendon Shop and get me some more - I know I have gone up a size as well since my last fitting -bugger it all!

Oh well - only my doing!

How to give your home a welcome makeover.........

Declutter & then discard the mess: “first, go through each room and identify what will help you live the life you want” suggests Louis D’Allura from Revamp Professional Orangisers. Remove any long-standing clutter, then donate or throw it away.

Not sure where to start? “start with fridge magnets, bookshelf clutter and flat surfaces: advises D’Allura

Move Furniture, feel brand new: D’Allura recommends creatind dedicated features in each room, such as a visual focal point or a space for easy conversations. “Can your current furniture be moved to make rooms more spacious or cosy?” D’Allura asks “I recently switched our living and dinning rooms around and that one small change has been amazing”

Quiz the Experts on renovation: Really serious about it? If you have the budget, passion and times, renovating is another possibility. There are many options available including Harvey Norman Design and Renovations service.

Safe Tips Every Woman Should Know........

OUT WITH FRIENDS: keep everyone’s numbers stored in your phone, never leave your drink unattended and organise how you’re getting home before you head out.

EXCERCISING AT NIGHT: Plan your route and tell someone where you’re going. Dress in bright colours, don’t wear jewellery or carry money and avoid unpopulated areas.

OVERSEAS ALONE: Get the business card of where you’re staying, note the names of taxi drivers and carry an over the shoulder bag with a zipper to protect your belongings.

STILL NERVOUS?: Take a self-defence class to help feel more assertive in any situation

89 Day Challenge Day 24

Today is my rest day - which is great as Tuesday nights are my late night.  Also with  the freezing cold weather we are experiencing in Auckland at the moment, I am glad to be able to stay in the warmth a little bit longer.

Yesterday was another food shocker - why do I do it!

This is something I need to really look within to see why I can't find the success again of previous attempts.

I do want to loose weight
I do want to be under 100 kg (Lowest 102kg a year ago)
I love the control of eating well and getting the results on the scales

BUT

Why do I continue to eat junk food!
Why am I not giving it my all at the gym making sure that I am feeling like a work out has just happened
Why do I think I am not worth it!

Lately with our dance trainings, different  people have been recording the routine and then we all get to view it to check out timings and make sure that we are all hitting the beats at the same time.

I hate looking at it because what I see in my mind of my body is nothing like what I view on the recording of me and it depresses me!

I guess I view myself on what I can see when I look down and that is a "frontal view",  but that is definitely not what I see when I see a recorded version of myself and this then makes me  think is that how people see me????

Am I really that big, that round?!

I have so much sorting out in my mind to do and somethimes that feels so overwhelming that I just give yup and have the chocolate!

But I will continue to look within to sort the outside and come to a happy resting place

OMG!!!!!!!! NON SCALE VICTORY FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!

O.M.G

I have just had the best Non Scale Victory ever!

Today  was one of my co-workers birthday and as the birthday cake organiser I purchased a Boston Mud Cake this morning for him and while driving to work thought to my self "mah I don't feel like chocolate cake today!"

Fast forward an hour or two and I am getting the cake ready and someone else has brought in savouries, ginger kisses and animal crackers as well!

Eek I think!

But I do not partake in any of it!

Nun.....Zilch............Zip........Nadda!

I stayed at my desk, ate my apple and let them be!

I must say I am so proud of myself for this - as usually I would indulge a bit with everything but I didn't!

off to polish my medal now!

I AM FABULOUS.........................

Without feeling fabulous and excited about life I could not possibly do what I do everyday. Let Annette explain to you what “I AM FABULOUS” can mean to you:

I
– means IMAGINE – just imagine for one moment that you could achieve anything you set your mind to, no fear of failure, no doubt. Realise that your fears are what could be holding you back. Be careful what you wish for because you might not wish hard enough.
A – Means ARM YOURSELF with as much knowledge as possible. A common belief is that knowledge is power. I disagree. It’s only when you use your knowledge that you create fabulous things. I bet you know what you should be eating and what you should be doing to be the healthy person you want to be? SO JUST DO IT!

M
– means MAINTAIN a lifestyle that nurtures a healthy and happy life now and in the future.
F – means FOOD  eat healthy low-fat foods that have moderate calories. Don’t be boring with your food choices either, eating grilled fish every night is unnecessary. Experiment and cook my recipes and be satisfied and enjoy your food guilt free.
A – means ATTITUDE is everything. Say to yourself that you are committed and going to be the best you can be, no matter what. Don’t let negative thoughts or anyone stop you.
B – means BELIEVE in yourself. Have the belief that you can achieve great things. Don’t let old negative thoughts stand in your way for another moment. Have faith in yourself and you will be a winner in life.
U – means UNBEATABLE and let nothing deter you on your journey to good health. Don’t let anything or anyone sway you from your goals and let nothing stop you now.
L – means LOVE yourself, because how can you give to others if you are not giving to yourself. Be your own best friend, take time for the number one person in your life – you.
O – means OFF AND ON dieting – give it up, yo-yo dieting only makes you fat and miserable.
U – means UNLEASH the power within and be the best you can be.
S – means SUCCESS will be yours if you do everything it takes and believe that it will happen.

This all spells
I AM FABULOUS so be fabulous and enjoy life to the fullest every day.

Adding in Steps to your day..............

Here are some extra suggestions for how you can easily add more steps to your day at home and work:

• Focus on walking distance over speed, it’s better to get in more steps at a comfortable pace than to burn out quickly
• Walk on a treadmill on rainy days or when it’s too dark to walk outside
• March in place while watching your favourite TV show
• Reverse your walking routine — start in the direction where you usually end
• Catch up on the day’s events with your partner, children or friends on an after-dinner walk
• Sleep more soundly at night by taking a walk a few hours before you go to bed
• Go for a walk before you go to work, you’ll energise yourself for the day
• Accompany your children on their walk to school
• Take your dog for a walk
• Start a walking club in your community
• Walk to a nearby store, post office, or dry cleaners to accomplish errands
• Benefit a good cause by joining a charity walk
• Mow the lawn
• Pace around your house while talking on the phone
• Buy a walking video so you can get in your steps on rainy days
• Experience the splendour of a sunrise on an early morning walk
• Exit the bus 1 or 2 stops early and walk the remainder of the way
• Walk to work if you live close enough
• Refill your coffee cup at the machine farthest from your workstation
• Visit the restroom on the far side of the building
• Use work as a way to exercise, for example hold a meeting while you go for a walk
• Listen to music or books on tape while walking
• Park in the far reaches of the parking lot
• Escape the stress of a difficult day by excusing yourself for a few minutes of walking
• Designate 10 minutes of your lunch break for a quick walk
• Start a staff walking club
• Walk to co-workers desks to speak to them instead of sending an email

Excercise Verses Movement

I found this amongst my many notes from the 28 Day Challenge and thought it was another good piece from Annette that I would like to record on my blog and share with you all:

Most people over estimate their activity levels. Just because you move, that doesn’t count as exercise. What you need to do is something else apart from normal activity, such as to go walking for an allocated time each day. If you want to have loads of energy and have a toned and fit body then exercise is the answer. When you exercise endorphins are released into the body that will give you a rush of energy and help combat fatigue. If you like the sound of this and want to bounce through the day with loads of energy then I suggest you get off the couch and hit the pavement.

Here is a reminder of some of the different ways you can exercise

-  Walk briskly
-  Jog
-  Join a health club, use the workout room with gym equipment and try lots of different classes
-  Do laps in your pool or local council pool
-  Do water aerobics classes
-  Learn how to belly dance
-  Learn how to roller blade
-  Play squash
-  Do the Wii Fit program
-  Hire workout DVDS and use them at home
-  Play some funky music and dance around the house
-  Go up and down the steps in your house and around your back yard
-  Use a skipping rope
-  Join a boot camp (group training sessions)
-  Learn how to dance
-  Do line dancing
-  Set up a small gym in your house
-  Use a rebounder – mini trampoline
-  Weight resistance exercises
-  Squats and floor exercises
-  Hiking or bush walking
-  Yoga
-  Pilates
-  Bike riding
-  Gardening or yard work
-  Thai chi
-  Hire a personal trainer
-  Canoe or kayak if you live near water.
